This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
Sodalite is a tectosilicate mineral and is typically known for its blue, white and violet colouring. This stone is considered to have healing properties, bringing calmness to the mind, emotional balance, logical and intelligence.
