Blue John stone is a rare, semiprecious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
Whitby Jet?is fossilised driftwood, discovered in Yorkshire in England.?In the Victorian era jet was mined both inland and along?the coast.
